The African Studies Library (also known as FID African Studies, based at the Goethe University Library in Frankfurt and funded by the German Research Foundation, DFG) focuses on the acquisition of literature published on the African continent.
The acquisition of this hard-to-find literature (including from small and independent publishers, NGOs and self-publishers) is intended to make African academic debates more visible in Germany in order to facilitate scholarly exchange and research collaboration. These titles are available through inter-library loan!
We have also licensed five specialist databases of publications from the African continent.
The catalogue search in this portal allows you to search these holdings, as well as the holdings of other library catalogues in Germany and across Europe and of over 100 university repositories on the African continent in one convenient search.
